Courtyard Gallery
HistoryA registered charity, run by artist for artists. The gallery is run completely by volunteers, none of which receive a salary. The Courtyard Gallery artists are a group of over 50 and represent a variety of different styles. Each year the gallery promotes a new Manx artist, offering an opportunity, which otherwise may not have been available to them. Practising artists also hold workshops covering a variety of areas for any ability or age.LocationThe Courtyard Gallery is at Tynwald Mills, which is located along the road to Ballig. Taking the road beside Tynwald Hill in the village of St Johns near Peel in the midwest part of the island.By Vehicle: St John is near Peel along the A1. Take the road next to Tynwald Hill and proceed to the crossroads, follow the signs. By Bus: St John can be reached by the following bus routes: 4, 4A, 5, 5A, 6, 6A, 6B, 7A, 8, 10, X5. Travelling from Douglas, Peel and Ramsey. Take the road next to Tynwald Hill and follow it to the crossroads, 10 minute walk. By Railway: St John is not accessible by the Railways. Many leading Manx Artist work with the gallery. There is a high standard of work produced on the Island, which may be completely unknown to the general public. The Gallery wishes to bring local art to local people and annually stages exhibitions covering a large area of works from crafts to one person shows.
