Nobles HospitalHistoryThis hospital was built to replace the old Noble's Hospital, opened in 1912, which was located on Westmoreland Road in upper Douglas. The new hospital, located in Strang (Braddan) opened in July 2003. It was built to meet the needs of a growing and changing island. The new building accommodates 20 wards and has 314 beds. There are small enclosed courtyards and the main building has been designed to be spacious and light.LocationNobles Hospital is located in Strang, near Douglas.By Vehicle: From Douglas, take the A23 to Strang. By Bus: Douglas can be reached by most main bus routes: 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, and 6's, as well as many others minor routes. On the island most routes leads to/from Douglas. Buses no. 5, 6, 9, 11, 13 pass through Nobles Hospital. There are two stops within Nobles Hospital, Entrance and Newlands. Bus no 9 goes to Newlands, while the rest go to the Main Entrance. By Railway: By Electric Railway, take the trams heading to Douglas. Walk along the promenade to the bus station or take a horse tram/prom bus. Then take a no. 5, 6, 9, 11, 13 bus to Castletown and get off at one of the Nobles Hospital's bus stop. By Steam Railway, take the train to Douglas. Then take a no. 5, 6, 9, 11, 13 bus to one of the Noble Hospital's bus stop. Site
