Ryan has been racing for six years on and off. He started racing a 125cc Honda, and was the first Irish man to win a Preston and District Club Championship at the Three Sisters race track in Wigan, in 2000. He moved up to the 250cc Class on board a Honda in 2001. It was Ryan's first time racing at all the Road Race circuits that were run that year, and on his first run out Ryan won his first Road Race at Dundalk. He then went on to win the Skerries 100 and made a hatrick of wins when he won the Walderstown Road Races. Ryan ended up winning the Junior Support Championship at his first attempt. After missing most of 2002 due to injury Ryan had his sights set on the Manx Grand Prix Newcomers 250cc Race, where as you can see from his results he had a tremendous time.
Many thanks to Ryan for this submission about himself (8 July 2004)
