Nigel Mansell was the ex club champion at Ramsey Golf Club, which
boasts an enjoyable, although somewhat demanding, course. The northern
Island course is not too hilly and so makes a good day's golfing.
The first six and last two holes are over flat ground divided by a brook,
while the remaining 10 are set in wooded parkland with a hilly backdrop.
The first hole, a par five, presents a real challenge, playing into the
prevailing wind with a stream on the left and across the fairway also
on right. The third green looks deceptively easy... but is really very
tricky. An interesting course close to town, established around 1891, with
some spectacular views and a range of amenities.
