About Ballure WalkThis small wooden glen winds down a deep ravine with many overhanging trees to the coast below. Folklore tells of Carrasdoo men, who are believed to have made their headquarters near the arches where the path emerges onto the beach. From there they lit fires to trick ships and lead them to their destruction. Such men were known as 'wreckers'. The top part of the glen has many well maintained paths with sculptured hedge rows and flowers as well as open areas for picnicking. |
